Beating the Heat
I don't know that anyone would notice one way or the other, but I am in San Francisco (well, was over the weekend) and Portland this week and will be back to posting some time soon.
So far: Bar Agricole, Benu, Bar Tartine, Lers Ros, Oakland taco trucks, Flora and Le Pigeon.
Coming up: Pok Pok, Char Burger, Paley's Place, Castagna, Tasty n Sons…and more.
Who knows if I'll write about it all.
Happy birthday, Krista! I’m curious to see what you think of the Portland restaurants you have named – I’ve only been to Tasty N Sons of all of them so far, and while I enjoyed it, the in-laws were not as crazy about it – too different for them, e.g. rosemary on the potatoes was likened to a bath sachet from Bed, Bath and Beyond (ha ha), while I really liked it.

Kristen: Funny, I never would’ve thought of rosemary as being exotic. I didn’t end up going to Tasty N Sons because it was too crowded even on a weekday, but I did end up at Toro Bravo with my mom and her husband (I gave them a gift certificate for Christmas that they hadn’t used). He just wanted an appetizer/entree experience, which kind of defeats the point of tapas, but in all it was good.
